(Currently watching the film, it's just started.) As a huge fan of Mel Gibson in the first Mad Max Trilogy, and in particular Mad Max 2, I was not too impressed when I heard about the re-make until I heard they had cast Tom Hardy. Ok I am prepared to be honest here, he is a hotty, but he is also a top actor that I love watching.   So, last night we treated ourselves to a night at the Flix to see the film and I am delighted to report WE LOVED IT! Its a little different but based on the same story and its a complete rush from start to finish. I would also like to report a great performance by the very beautiful Charlize Theron who takes a lead role along side Tom Hardy.   I am not going to give anything away but if action is your bag get yourself to the cinema asap and see this film. I could go again tonight and not be bored!    

I have recently developed early wake syndrome again! Its not a bad thing in the week when I need to get up but a little disappointing at the weekend. Anyway, yesterday when it happened I was able to stay in bed until Mr Dancin woke and we had breakfast but this morning I felt restless and so decided to get up and leave him to snooze in peace. As its dark outside I am spoiling myself with an early morning viewing of Snow White and the Huntsman, a film we got out this weekend and watched on Friday night. Its stars Chris Hemsworth who you may remember from such films as Thor an Avengers Assemble! And is a really interesting and fresh take on the traditional Snow White story. Snow White herself is played by Kristen Stewart who actually does a fair job however the supporting cast is even more impressive with appearances from Bob Hoskins, Ray Winstone, Ian McShane (hasn't Lovejoy done well!) and Nick Frost. I am taking a few moments out to enjoy one of my favourite films on TV, Alfred Hitchcock's Rear Window, staring James Stewart and Grace Kelly. I have been a big fan of James Stewart since I was little and you can't not love Grace Kelly, she is so beautiful, natural and charming. Anyway, I would not say I was a huge Hitchcock fan; I have seen several of his movies and have my favourites, but there is something about Rear Window. For those of you who have not seen it it is about a foreign correspondent journalist (James Stewart) who as the result of a broken leg is forced to stay at home and spends his time looking out of his living room window and observing the residents of the opposite block of flats. Through their living room windows we get a glimpse of their lives, their loves and their traumas. There is the beautiful young blond who has many gentlemen callers, the lonely middle aged woman who fantasises about the perfect date, the old lady with a dog which she lower...

My lovely man took me to see Ted at the cinema last night. I really wanted to see it and although its not a film that you have to see at the flicks i.e. amazing sci fi effects and stuff, it was great to sit in a room full of people and have a bloomin' good laugh! Anyway, hopefully everyone going will be prepared for the humour, its Seth MacFarlane so you know the humour is going to be...how can I put it...pushing boundaries. As much as I love Family Guy there are some bits that don't make me laugh, some episodes I don't like (although not many!) and some jokes I think should not have been made but on the whole it's just so good and I have got used to the unorthodox style! I have been itching to post some New Year photos but the weather here has been a little grim in recent days. After the snow and frosts we have a spell of fog, cloud and drizzle and it does not make for an attractive landscape. I did have a lovely walk around a local wood yesterday with the pups but did not take any shots. Anyway today I am going to take my camera out anyway and hope for the best. I got a new lens for Christmas and am really keen to see what it can do. Its a wide angle lens which I plan to use for landscapes but I have also been given some advice for other ways to use it by a photographer in the family. We had a lovely visit with Sensory Dragon yesterday and she is currently winging her way back home. We are having a Star Trek Next Generation afternoon courtesy of Channel One (formerly Virgin One). As a big fan of Robert Downey Jr and the first Iron Man film I am hopeful that the second film does well. The trailer looks pretty good and there is an excellent supporting cast but the proofs in the pudding as they say. Fingers crossed!

This is a great film and a brilliant compilation, a well spent 9 minutes 55 seconds. I guarantee a giggle and I tell you it's uplifting stuff!

I am working at home today while my truck has a new cam belt fitted and have promised to take time out every once in a while to send pictures of Edward Cullen to my friend who is stuck in the office! We had a lovely evening out last night perusing the new shops in town and ending up dining at Wagamamas indulging ourselves with their renowned Yasai Katsu Curry: (Sweet potato, aubergine and butternut squash deep-fried in panko breadcrumbs, served with a curry sauce and sticky white rice, garnished with mixed leaves and red pickles.) Food doesn't get much better than that, but my family has come up with a recipe or two that compare! Anyway our conversation also strayed to Daniel Craig who recently took a lead role in a very nice dream I had and I thought I would send her a nice picture of him too! Although Sean Connery has always been my favourite Bond I have to say Daniel is the best and just perfect for the new and more true to the original character of Bond. Anyway these two shot...

Hot damn I love the internet! I have, thanks to my search for The Impossible Dream come across Reel Classics, a website dedicated to classic movies that has loads of MP3 files of classic songs. There is a whole heap of other stuff too so if you are a classic movie fan I recommend it! If you have a moment check it out here.

Well that's one down! The trailer does not really do the film justice but I thought Night at the Museum 2 was excellent. Good story, good effects and all the old favourite characters. Ricky Gervais even managed to make me not cringe (not a fan!). If I had to criticise then it would be to say that not all of the new characters were great and I did not really rate Hank Azaria's performance, which is a big thing for me as I am a fan of his. Anyway, all round a great film with a top feel good factor! 7/10

Visiting the cinema last night to see the new Star Trek Film reminded us of how many great films there are out at the moment, or coming out in the next few weeks. I love film and would like to go to the cinema much more frequently but now we tend to save it for films that really benefit from being seen on the big screen, such as science fiction movies. There are however at least three films I would like to see on the big screen within the next few weeks. I have just watched Night at the Museum again on the TV and the sequel is currently at the cinema which I want to see. I really enjoyed the first film, which for anyone that doesn't know is about a night watchman at The Natural History Museum in New York who gets a surprise on his first night when he discovers that all of the displays and occupants come to life for the duration of the night. Its a lovely film full of adventure and magic, it reminds me of Jumanji, another story with a very similar feel that I can watch over and over...

We went to see the new Star Trek film last night. We are both big fans of the series and have been awaiting the new film with some anticipation. I watched the original series with my family when I was growing up. I have clear memories of riding my bike up and down the driveway of our house and then being called in for Star Trek every week. I think it was Thursday nights. I loved the original and particularly the play between Kirk ( William Shatner ) Spok ( Leonard Nimoy ) and Bones ( DeForest Kelly ) although I think Bones was my favourite. I loved his sense of humour. The shows may have aged somewhat now in terms of effects and story lines but the spin between the crew is still very engaging. Later on in life, and after it had run once on the TV, my partner introduced me to Star Trek - The Next Generation with the likes of Patrick Stewart , Jonathan Frakes and Brent Spiner and I soon became addicted to the show. I occasionally watched Deep Space Nine and Voyager however never real...

I heard a great saying while recently watching Kung Fu Panda and have been trying to find its origins, me and many other folk it would seem. There are loads of questions posted on the net seeking the first recorded incidence of this and no one seems to know. A couple of people who have used it famously in speeches are Eleanor Roosevelt and Joan Rivers. I expect it is a gem that stems back centuries and has been passed down due to its beauty and positive message. Anyway here it is the way I first heard it, spoken by Master Oogway.
