Porcupine Tree - Track of The Day

In my ongoing quest to spread the news to the world that Porcupine Tree are the best band ever, apart from Little Feat that is who really are the best band ever in the world and have had the title a lot longer, I have decided to post a PT (Porcupine Tree) song every day up until the gig next Thursday. This morning I have chosen something a little more mellow than Arriving, which although begins gently does progress into full on rock, the previously unreleased song Meantime - now featuring on the album In Absentia. I must apologies in advance for the image accompanying this song, there is no video for it on You Tube and only this still of the album cover which I hate and find disturbing. I suggest you listen to the song, which is beautiful, and turn off the monitor or look elsewhere! Umm, well maybe just one more, this is the brilliant Trains

Last winter we purchased tickets to see Porcupine Tree at the Albert Hall for this autumn, it will be the fifth time we have seen them. I am delighted to say the long awaited event is drawing near and there are only 6 days to go now! We have been checking out song lists from recent gigs as this is to be an extended performance and we are pretty sure they are going to play Arriving Somewhere which is a favourite of ours we have never seen them do live! I don't want to get too excited in case they don't do it, and I have seen them play most of my other favourites, but it would be so amazing! Anyway here it is! It's long, but that's Prog Rock for you!!!
The Weekend Starts Here!

I am enjoying a quiet few minutes before the weekend really kicks in as we have a lot planned for the next couple of days. We did have a lovely lie in this morning as for some reason, known only to Roxy, the dogs did not venture into our room until 7.45am! After that I have been doing some computing and have downloaded Google Chrome to try as a new browser. It claims to be quicker for blogging so I thought I would give it a go. It has also brought to the forefront of my plans some PC repairs as for a short while now I have been getting an error message on start up and have trouble with my windows install software. The same thing happened with the Google Chrome this morning and although I am using it, and liking it so far, I know it is not properly installed. So I have given the local PC shop a call and am going to take my PC in on Monday for a review and possible upgrade to Windows 7. It has been suggested that reinstalling Windows may solve my current issues however I thought I ...

I have been trying to buy tickets to see Jeff Beck for some time now. Last year he was either sold out or you had to be a American Express Gold Card Holder to buy a ticket, whatever that is, probably not something I will experience in my lifetime! Anyway, tickets are up for his October 2010 performance and I have been visiting the site for days waiting for the platinum tickets to sell so I can buy some normal tickets that don't cost over £100! I think that until they fill these seats they won't start selling the cheap seats. I say cheap but he is playing The Symphony Hall Birmingham so how bad can any seat be? A friend and I went to a gig at Wembley Arena once and will never go and see anyone there again, the sound was beyond dreadful and it amazes me that bands actually play there at all. It was Steely Dan I went to see there before by the way, and on the upside I did have a great night out with my mate and got very close to Donald Fagen at one point! Not too close, he has a ...

Happy Christmas everyone! Well the big day is over and as we wing our way to 2010 we are already making plans for our first gig! I have just booked tickets for Porcupine Tree at the Royal Albert Hall! We saw them twice this year, that's four times altogether now, and as one of our favourite bands they are always going to be a great night out but the venue is the icing on the cake. I have been before and was down in the front row staring up at the Crash Test Dummies which was very good but PT's sound will suit the venue better and as we have better seats in the boxes it should be amazing. Only 289 days to go! We are also trying to get tickets for Jeff Beck in Birmingham however the tickets are platinum only at present and a little too pricey! We are going to wait for the cheaper seats and take binoculars! Image Credit: Julian Lloyd Webber

I started writing this post in my head lastnight on the way home from Birmingham. I often find myself composing blog posts in my head although few make it to my blog. I wanted to say what a great pleasure it is to be able to add Mr BB King and John Mayall to my gig list after last nights amazing concert! It really was amazing aswell. John Mayall was fabulous and BB King is just the most wonderful performer and man. It was a very moving experience. I am afraid though that the journey home was a sad and surreal experience for as we drove along singing BB Tunes in our head and grinning to ourselves we turned on the radio and heard the news that Michael Jackson had died just a few hours earlier. I can't really put into words how I feel at the moment, like thoasands of people around the world I know. I just wanted to mark the events of lastnight here and leave it at that for now. My wish for Michael is, as it always has been, this; I wish you peace and joy. To me it appeared they were t...

The most amazing thing happened this afternoon. We found out that BB King is touring the UK again this year! I missed him last time he was here and had thought that given his age (currently 84) it was fair to assume that he probably wouldn't come here again to play, I know he still tours the States but I also know he doesn't like flying. But, wonder of wonders I am now the very proud owner of 2 tickets to see him play in Birmingham on 25th June! He is such a unique and special talent, and an inspirational man. I have no idea what he will play, obviously there are a few tracks I would really like to hear but bottom line I just can't wait to hear him play live. We went to see Bob Dylan the year before last and he played lots of stuff I had never heard before but it really didn't matter. It was a brilliant gig, he sounded amazing and we had such a good night. I am really pleased to be getting some gigs lined up for this year. We are going to see Porcupine Tree for the thi...
