The Wee Small Hours (Reprise)

Well here we are again, there's not much point posting about why I can't sleep, we all go through it at some point, but often I find heading for my blog is a good cure. It takes my mind of the 101 worries or jobs that seem to fill your hear when morpheus evades and usually after a hot drink and a few minutes distraction I can get back to sleep for the short time between now and the alarm clock. We moved to a new house 6 months ago and there are two reception rooms, as such I can come through to what we call the music room and set up without disturbing the pupster. Our old house had one living room, open plan to the kitchen, where the pups would sleep and my midnight blogging sessions would result in much heavy sighing and staring from them as their rest was disturbed.  I popped into the living room when I came down just now and Roxy pup lifted her head briefly to give me her usually sweet acknowledgement, but now she has lowered her head back to the couch and resumed s...

The Wee Small Hours

When I can't sleep there is always something comforting about coming downstairs, getting a cup of tea and doing a little blogging while half the world sleeps! Tonight I am also joined by Buffy (Series 5). I was going to put a series relevant picture here with this post but wouldn't you rather look at Angel!

Shake The Disease

Well I am very happy to say this sun is shining and the birds are singing again this morning however I did not wake up in a fabulous mood! I had a trying afternoon yesterday and a bit of a wierd nights sleep culminating in a dream about my paternal grandmother who sadly died about 10 years ago now. Although it was lovely to spend some time with her again, albeit in a dream, I woke up feeling very sad. I have always really treasured time spent in dreams with people who are nolonger with us. It is as close to sharing time with them as you are going to get, but it can also unlock emotions either un dealt with or buried deep. Anyway, I refuse to let yesterdays events and last nights dreams impact on this day in a negative way and so with the help of two buckets of tea (bucket is only a slight exageration, I have a wonderful and huge breakfast mug) and a long walk outside in the fabulous company of the pups, the birds, the sunshine and the ever encroaching Spring I am sure I can shake...

Rest Easy

Blimey I am tired! I have had a fairly busy day but no more than others for but for some reason I am feeling really tired in body and mind! Sleep tonight is going to be good! Anyway, all chores are now done and I am treating myself with a glass of wine and the first Underworld film. What is it with vampires and werewolves, why is it so interesting? The romance (obviously referring to vampires there), the immortality, for the chaps Kate Beckinsale in rubber clothing? I particularly like the werewolf (Lichen) leader Michael Sheen. Anyway, given how sleepy I am feeling this is not a topic I am going to ponder now! Sleep well bloggers, and dream not of today.

Let's Hear It For The Tent

Image
I have been away for a week in Suffolk working and attending a 3 day course and took my tent with me. Mr Dancin' got lots of comments like 'Can't the company afford to put her up in a hotel?' but the truth is I would really prefer to camp. I love camping and really mean if I could live in a tent I would. Also I hate staying away in B & B's on my own. I never sleep well and it is always awkward doing things in the evening like eating and going out in the town as a girl on her own is always a little odd to other folk. This way I got to spend my evenings sitting out in the open, in the glorious weather, or walking through the countryside, or when it was raining sitting in my tent reading or playing on my laptop. It was fab! The people on the camp site were really friendly and I even got a visit from a dog when I most needed it. I did actually have one bad day and returned to the tent feeling a little blue and a dog appeared out of no where to cheer me up. It'...

By Jove I Think She's Got It!

It is just possible that I am finally happy with the look of my main blog! I have been messing around with templates for forever but every time I come to this one I really like it and it reminds me of a sunrise, my favourite time of day. I nearly saw this mornings! That's the only thing about summer; they happen so early it is not easy to get to see them. I woke up at 4.30am this morning and felt quite awake so considered heading up to the hill fort to see the sun rise. It was already light but I knew the sun had not cleared the horizon here. Anyway, as it would happen my alarm was set for 5.30am and the thought of the long day ahead encouraged me to try and sleep for the remaining hour. Another incentive to stay in bed is that at the slightest hint of a walk one of the pups (Roxy) becomes very vocal, and amazingly loud with it, and me getting up and putting shoes on would have been construed as an early walk. So when one of us gets up, we all get up! Kind of like the Bagpuss...

To Bed, Perchance to Sleep?

Ok I know that is a cruel way to treat such a beautiful phrase as the last line from Hamlet's famous soliloquy, and I use it in a literal sense, but it suits my needs perfectly. I cannot sleep! It does not happen to me often and has occurred much more in recent years, predominantly as a result of worrying about work, but when it does happen I am very soon aware that while the bed may be comfy and my eyes may be closed, my brain is not going to switch off! I hate lying there for hours, as the time passes both quickly and slowly, and bed (one of my favourite places to be) becomes a slow torture. I usually give myself a certain amount of time to try and relax and shake of my train of thought. I try focusing on the story of my current book, or daydream off to lands I have discovered through favourite TV programmes or books form my past and this is often successful. However every once it a while it proves futile and my only other proven treatment is to get up for a while, have a cup of ...
