In The Pink

Last Sunday my fella and I went over to my sisters for dinner. It was a lovely trip out as we have not seen each other for a while and I miss her company and playing with my wonderful nephew. However, I wanted to post about the fabulous meal she cooked for us. My sister is a wonderful and imaginative cook, and always makes a huge effort to cater for the vegetarian diet. Last week I think she surpassed herself! The menu consisted of home made soup, a variation on leak and potato but that description alone does not do it justice. The soup was garnished with 3 slices of salami for the meat eaters and three slices of cucumber for me! It was very delicate and worked so well, I would not have expected it but cucumber goes very well with hot food. (My fella likes cucumber with his chips and swears it is an excellent combination.) I noticed the other day that there are now rather a lot of 'words from me' in the tag list. There used to be more poems that rants. I guess it's symptomatic of this blog evolving and me feeling more comfortable recording and sharing significant events or thoughts. When I first started blogging I was very nervous about giving things away. Anyway, finally I have a few moments to play catch up! I have been out with the dogs this morning and we had a ball down by the river. They both love the water although Buddy is less into swimming than Roxy and just prefers to paddle and lie in the shallows. (Picture Right: Buddy) I am still nervous about letting them play with other dogs. We were told that Buddy was not keen on other dogs but I think he is just playful, there does not seem to be any aggression there however I am nervous of putting that to the test. On a recent trip to Dover for work I was lucky enough to get this snap, and a couple of others, before the fox realised I was there. In the end it was the sound of my camera that gave me away but it was a fabulous few moments and I got to watch a lot before I took this. I camped down by the beach for a night while working there. I do not enjoy B & B's and don't sleep well but my camping pitch 50 yards from the sea, and the white cliffs, made for a great work like holiday! I will hopefully be back there in July and should get some snaps of the cliffs this time!

This is a short post to announce the arrival yesterday of our new pups! They are very sweet, very smart and very furry! I am thrilled to have dogs back in our lives again and am already feeling the stretching of dormant muscles from just one days play and walking! They are rescue pups (a term of endearance, they are actually 3 years old)and are beautifully behaved, save when walking on a lead, but we are commencing training and they are already showing improvements. I have a huge catch up post planned to document the return of Amber the cat to her owner, our move and our new house and garden, which has taken up the past few weeks however for now there is hoovering to do, floors to mop and dogs to entertain!

Well I am delighted to be back with a brand new shiny ISP provider! I am feeling very blog deprived but also a little unsure where to start, so much has happened in the past 3 weeks! For now, here is my Sky Watch picture for this week. I usually avoid editing my Sky Watch pictures as so far I have been lucky enough to capture the image in full glory as I first viewed it but this one's been played with a little, I hope that's not against the rules? Greetings all! I am sorry to report that I will not be able to take part in this weeks Sky Watch Friday however I will be taking the time to visit a few participants! We still do not have an internet connection at the new home and it looks like it could take a while. I thought I would squeeze a quick note in at work before I start for the day to say hello and have a great weekend to everyone. I am still sky watching and hope to be back posting pictures next week.

Well the last moving day is here. Over the past week we have been making trips to the new house with our belongings and all that is left now is the larger furniture, which we are moving with a van today, and the cleaning. It feels so weird to be leaving this house but I am concentrating on looking forward and after a week of moving already we are both ready for it all to be over! We have some good news on the cat front and have located her owner. It's a bit of a long story so I will post in full about that from the new pad when the computers are set up. For now though her name is Amber (very fitting I thought given her beautiful colouring) and she is 15! Well at least that explains her love of sleep and lack of enthusiasm for play! Right, off to it then! Have a great weekend everyone what ever you are doing and I hope the sun shines for you.

This little bundle recently turned up in our street opposite our house. I noticed her when I returned from work and she came over to me and cried in that way that animals do when they need something rather than want something. I have a reputation for being a softy where animals are concerned (justifiably) however, there is an audible and visible difference between need and want as I am sure all mothers can attest to!! I stroked her and immediately noticed that she was thin to the point of concern. Anyway I gave her some milk and left her to it for a while. Two hours later she was still in the same spot in the street as if waiting for someone.... It was too much for me to take so I got some more milk and she followed me into our house, opposite where she had been sitting, where I left her with my fella getting some attention while I went out for cat supplies. She has obviously been owned as she took to the kitchen, cat food, litter tray, bed and cat flap instantly however showed no inte...

While Sky Watch travelling I came across a post about mammatus clouds at Eye to the Sky, home of Jess Cloud-stalker . I have never heard of mammatus clouds before and have certainly never seen them. After seeing Jess's shots and looking for a few more examples on the photo share site I use I will be looking out for nothing else!
