Remember, Remember
English Folk Verse (c.1870) - The Fifth of November Remember, remember! The fifth of November, The Gunpowder treason and plot; I know of no reason Why the Gunpowder treason Should ever be forgot! That's the only portion of this poem I have known up until now, however this year I came across the rest which I have to say I am not in complete agreeance with. Guy Fawkes and his companions Did the scheme contrive, To blow the King and Parliament All up alive. Threescore barrels, laid below, To prove old England's overthrow. But, by God's providence, him they catch, With a dark lantern, lighting a match! A stick and a stake...
Jacobs ladder or an angel watching the view. What a lovely picture.
ReplyDeleteScotland! I love it! This was a sunset cruise we went on. I had a close encounter with a beautiful grey seal and we won a dinner for two in the local restaurant!
ReplyDeleteIt could not have happened to two nicer people unless mac's neice was with you then it could have been a foursome
ReplyDeleteI wish you had all been there, especially to see the seal. It was a male grey seal that was getting on and hung around in the harbour (small town). When the tourist boats go out apparently he always turns up and has a look. I lent over the side looking at him and spoke to him, I think he thought I had something for him and he rose, without effort, several feet out of the water and came straight towards me. I was very moved, he was lovely.
ReplyDeleteI got poo'd on by a seagull that day earlier on, it's supposed to be good luck so maybe that was my good luck!
