First Born


Well it's been a long time coming but our passion flower, which suffered so much during the cold winter, has finally decided to open one of it's many, many buds, and here it is!

Actually there are two more flowers out today but I took this the day before yesterday. This flower has since closed up again! Hopefully it will re-appear at a later date!

    Dancin'!! I absolutely love these flowers and they are so rare (to me, anyway) I took a good photo of one at a friend's greenhouse a long time ago and have it framed. Isn't it sad that they smell so stinky? (At least the passion flower herb does, as well as being quite a wonderful sedative and relaxant! ... like Valerian, they stink!) Hey, Passion Stinks!? NO!!

    Hey Bud! I know they are such amazing flowers! I cannot believe Mother Nature goes to so much trouble!

    I have googled images of other varieties of passion flower and some of them are almost alien and a little scary looking!

I grabbed this shot one day on our camping trip. The buzzard was a regular visitor to the field and had just delighted me with a close fly over. He hovered over my head for ages and I allowed myself the pleasure of just watching before I decided it was worth a mad dash for my camera and a quick lens change. My big lens takes better shots from the tripod as the small movements of my hand and breathing make for blurred images but I was pleased to be able to get this anyway. I found out yesterday that Joni over at My Piece of Heaven has closed her blog. She runs a farm with her husband and also works as a medical transcriber. Apparently Joni is increasing her hours at work and she has decided that with the extra work and the farm to run she won't be able to fit blogging in, at least not to the standard that she wishes to. I completely understand but I am sad that I won't be able to visit her blog anymore. Joni posted everyday and displayed amazing photos of the beautiful and varied wildlife in her part of the world, including her new puppy Cooper! I am really happy that things are going well for Joni but I am sorry that I did not get a chance to tell her how much I valued her and her blog before she went. It's a funny thing this virtual socialising, connections are made between people.
