Sky Watch Friday # 46 - Red Dragon Revealed

Image
As promised here is the answer to the identity of my subject matter for this weeks Sky Watch Friday. Although I would like to say, as suggested by T-Bone Travis , that it is can can dancers, I am afraid it is not and the actual answer is much less interesting! Just for a laugh though here is the image rotated...it really does look like dancing girls, with very well formed calf muscles! The picture is of a communications tower which had a vertical line of red lights. I tried to take a night shot of it without the aid of a tripod and this was the result. Anyway my thanks again to everyone for their comments and having a guess. Happy Sky Watch everyone and see you next week!

Camera Critters #4 - Buzzard

Image
I grabbed this shot one day on our camping trip. The buzzard was a regular visitor to the field and had just delighted me with a close fly over. He hovered over my head for ages and I allowed myself the pleasure of just watching before I decided it was worth a mad dash for my camera and a quick lens change. My big lens takes better shots from the tripod as the small movements of my hand and breathing make for blurred images but I was pleased to be able to get this anyway. Holiday - North Wales August 2009

Image
I have been a little reluctant to return to all of the normal routines since we returned from holiday. We had such a relaxing time, in fact it has been voted our best holiday ever! As a result it has taken me a while to get some pictures up on the blog but finally here they are! (Picture 1 - base camp with fire pit!) We stayed in the one place while away which is new for us, we were lucky enough to be able to stay on a friends land just outside of Caernarfon with mountain views, 25 acres to ourselves and the use of a farm house for washing ourselves and drying clothes. The dogs, needless to say, were in heaven and spent all day, when we were not off on a yomp, playing with their toys in the fields and exploring. This shot was taken at the summit of Moel Shiobod (872m). We were in the cloud and the wind kept blowing the camera over for the self timer shot. We did evenutally get one but you can't really make us out too well though the cloud! It was a testing day for leg muscles and w...

Vacation

Well, I'm back! We have just returned from two weeks camping in Wales which was just wonderful. We are still officially on holiday until tomorrow and are therefore trying to carry on the routine of no TV, plenty of fresh air, long walks and lots of reading, however I felt the need for a quick blog! For now I have mail to open, dog beds to wash, emails to read, lawns to cut, weeding to do, unpacking to complete........ok that's it! Back to the walks and reading for a few more hours. More to follow!

Pups & Pats

Image
My fella and I went camping in Wales for a few days at the weekend. We were staying on a friends land and as such had a field all to ourselves, much to the pups delight! The weather was beautiful. We indulged in some nice walks, cooking on the camp fire, and a small bit of animal management keeping the sheep and cattle from coming through the gaps in the hedge from the next field! I am truly delighted to say Roxy is much better. In fact she seems her old self although the vet has cautioned us to keep her on restricted food and go steady in case the complaint should flare up again but so far all seems well. On the hottest day we headed for woodland with plenty of streams and a lake to keep the pups cool. Roxy is a water baby and loves to swim, Buddy on the other hand is a little more cautious and prefers to dunk at the waters edge and await her return! It was a great break and timed well to get us away from the media madness following the death of Michael Jackson. We are both very sad a...
