Porcupine Tree - Track of The Day

Porcupine Tree - Track of The Day

In my ongoing quest to spread the news to the world that Porcupine Tree are the best band ever, apart from Little Feat that is who really are the best band ever in the world and have had the title a lot longer, I have decided to post a PT (Porcupine Tree) song every day up until the gig next Thursday. This morning I have chosen something a little more mellow than Arriving, which although begins gently does progress into full on rock, the previously unreleased song Meantime - now featuring on the album In Absentia. I must apologies in advance for the image accompanying this song, there is no video for it on You Tube and only this still of the album cover which I hate and find disturbing. I suggest you listen to the song, which is beautiful, and turn off the monitor or look elsewhere! Umm, well maybe just one more, this is the brilliant Trains

6 Days and Counting!

Last winter we purchased tickets to see Porcupine Tree at the Albert Hall for this autumn, it will be the fifth time we have seen them. I am delighted to say the long awaited event is drawing near and there are only 6 days to go now! We have been checking out song lists from recent gigs as this is to be an extended performance and we are pretty sure they are going to play Arriving Somewhere which is a favourite of ours we have never seen them do live! I don't want to get too excited in case they don't do it, and I have seen them play most of my other favourites, but it would be so amazing! Anyway here it is! It's long, but that's Prog Rock for you!!!

Stop the Press

Porcupine Tree's new live film is approaching completion and a special edition will be available in April, with a regular version to follow in May. Anesthetize was filmed live over 2 nights in Tilburg, The Netherlands in October 2008, at the end of the Fear of a Blank Planet tour. The 130 minute live film includes a complete performance of the Blank Planet album and 11 other tracks, and was directed and edited by Lasse Hoile on high definition cameras, with the soundtrack mixed into stereo and 5.1 sound. The special edition will take the form of a cloth bound hard back 120 page book (as per The Incident and Insurgentes deluxe versions) featuring live photography of the band taken over the last 5 years. The book will house both a DVD and a much higher quality Blu-Ray disc version of the film, as well as 2 audio CDs of the soundtrack including one bonus track not featured in the film. The book and audio CDs will not be included with the standard retail versions of the Blu-Ray/DVD. Te...

The Heart Wants what it Wants

I am working at home today while my truck has a new cam belt fitted and have promised to take time out every once in a while to send pictures of Edward Cullen to my friend who is stuck in the office! We had a lovely evening out last night perusing the new shops in town and ending up dining at Wagamamas indulging ourselves with their renowned Yasai Katsu Curry: (Sweet potato, aubergine and butternut squash deep-fried in panko breadcrumbs, served with a curry sauce and sticky white rice, garnished with mixed leaves and red pickles.) Food doesn't get much better than that, but my family has come up with a recipe or two that compare! Anyway our conversation also strayed to Daniel Craig who recently took a lead role in a very nice dream I had and I thought I would send her a nice picture of him too! Although Sean Connery has always been my favourite Bond I have to say Daniel is the best and just perfect for the new and more true to the original character of Bond. Anyway these two shot...

I can't help myself!

Just one more!

I Drive the Hearse

God Bless You Tube! This song sends me, and I have seen Stephen sing it live twice!!!!

I have been making the most of the blogger profile facility to find other like minded bloggers. For those that may not have checked it out if you go to your profile page the answers you left there for your favourites book, film etc have become links and when clicked on will take you to a list of bloggers that have the same interests and listings. I now know that there are three bloggers, including myself, that have put The Adventures of Goodnight and Loving by Leslie Thomas as one of their favourite books. It's been a while since I went blogger hunting but it is always a rewarding experience, although I usually come across several blogs worshipping either Britney Spears or Sarah Jessica Parker. Hey each to their own. There are atleast 25,000 bloggers who have listed Porcupine Tree as a favourite band. (Good call!) It may take me some time to visit all of them!

The Weekend Starts Here!

Blimey its been ages! I have not blogged for over a month despite starting several posts in my head over the weeks. None of them ever made it onto my PC. I am however grabbing a bit of time back tonight! Its been busy our end for a while, mostly with great stuff like family visits. We are showing off our recently completed spare room! There has also been a gig (Porcupine Tree)lots of work, more website stuff (it's getting there!) and it's winter and somehow the days seem much shorter! For now though its Friday! The weekend has arrived! The dogs are fed and watered and my fella is on route home. Perfect. I did think about posting this following song for ages and I don't think it is officially autumn anymore but here it is anyway. Enjoy.

Porcupine Tree

I went to see PT last Friday, they were awesome! They played the first disc of The Incident as the first half. It is an amazing album, I feel as if I have know it for years, it is a thing of beauty and I cannot get enough. Here's a bit of it!!

16 Days to Go!

Return of the King

The most amazing thing happened this afternoon. We found out that BB King is touring the UK again this year! I missed him last time he was here and had thought that given his age (currently 84) it was fair to assume that he probably wouldn't come here again to play, I know he still tours the States but I also know he doesn't like flying. But, wonder of wonders I am now the very proud owner of 2 tickets to see him play in Birmingham on 25th June! He is such a unique and special talent, and an inspirational man. I have no idea what he will play, obviously there are a few tracks I would really like to hear but bottom line I just can't wait to hear him play live. We went to see Bob Dylan the year before last and he played lots of stuff I had never heard before but it really didn't matter. It was a brilliant gig, he sounded amazing and we had such a good night. I am really pleased to be getting some gigs lined up for this year. We are going to see Porcupine Tree for the thi...
