A Friend in Need

Image
This little bundle recently turned up in our street opposite our house. I noticed her when I returned from work and she came over to me and cried in that way that animals do when they need something rather than want something. I have a reputation for being a softy where animals are concerned (justifiably) however, there is an audible and visible difference between need and want as I am sure all mothers can attest to!! I stroked her and immediately noticed that she was thin to the point of concern. Anyway I gave her some milk and left her to it for a while. Two hours later she was still in the same spot in the street as if waiting for someone.... It was too much for me to take so I got some more milk and she followed me into our house, opposite where she had been sitting, where I left her with my fella getting some attention while I went out for cat supplies. She has obviously been owned as she took to the kitchen, cat food, litter tray, bed and cat flap instantly however showed no inte

Mammatus

While Sky Watch travelling I came across a post about mammatus clouds at Eye to the Sky, home of Jess Cloud-stalker . I have never heard of mammatus clouds before and have certainly never seen them. After seeing Jess's shots and looking for a few more examples on the photo share site I use I will be looking out for nothing else! All pictures here are from Webshots and appropriate image credit is given below each picture. Sheryl Crow - Run,Baby,Run

I have this song on my head duke box this evening. I have started running every morning as part of my 'have a go at being really fit...just once' drive, as per my to do list for this year. This is my favourite Sheryl Crow song. I always thought she promised more than she delivered as a muscician but I still like her stuff, just not as much as I thought I would. Still, after that great build up, enjoy!

Two Knights and Maidens - Crash Test Dummies

I have been after this song on You Tube for ages. This song is where my blog address comes from. I have threatened to post a clip of me playing it and will keep to my word however you wouldn't thank me for it yet! In the meantime enjoy the original!

Help Wanted

Can anyone recommend a good photography magazine to me that I could get in the UK? Preferably one with good advice about SLR's (digital) and information on photography competitions? Any suggestions welcomed, and thanks in advance.

Porcupine Tree - Arriving somewhere, but not here

Awesome slide show, beautiful song.

A Blog of Note

I have made a wonderful discovery today in the form of Tom Hardy in Australia at Thomas Wentworth Hardy's blog and hope he does not mind me telling you all about it. I have been blogging for a while now and have a small and wonderful group of regular bloggers whose lives I like to keep up with and who I consider friends if you will. Also since joining Sky Watch Friday I have found some fabulous bloggers around the world who share several of my passions in the form of photography, sky watching and birds. Today I found this blog....well actually Tom found me and I followed his link back and what I found took my breath away and also made for a very interesting read! I would therefore like to recommend to all who pass by here a trip to Pan Riviera , I do not think you will be disappointed.

Out of the blue

It was my fella's birthday last weekend and we woke to a snow covered village. We usually wake early these days and I am glad we do as it had all but gone by 10am. I frequently find that the beginning of the day is the most beautiful and also can be when the nicest weather occurs! My paternal Grandmother was an early riser and I like to think it is a trait I have acquired from her. My maternal Grandmother shared my fella's birthday. She unfortunately passed away the year before last. I did not know her as well as my paternal Grandmother, a fact I have regret about. My maternal Grandmother was always lovely to me however we saw less of eachother than we should, which has something to do with geographical location. I do however greatly regret not being a better Grand-daughter and not taking the time to get to know her better. I think of her often, and remember her birthday shared with my lovely man.

Update

Well two weeks from today we will be moving house. (For those who don't know we are renting but the house we are in is being sold and we are not able to buy it.) Our official move date is 30th April however our new landlords are going to give us the keys a few days early to ease the process. A good start to what I am confident will be a good relationship. I don't spend too much time thinking about leaving this house, it will make me very sad as it really is home however, there is a cool new place to move into, I cannot change the fact that we have to move and most importantly the house down but one has recently become occupied and I am thrilled to say that the new owners have put out lots of bird feeders and planted Pyracantha along their fence, so I expect the birds will just move down a couple of houses! After the initial interest in this house things have slowed up so it looks like it may be empty for a while when we leave. We could have stayed until it sold but we then ran

A Promise in the Clouds (AMV - Porcupine Tree - Trains)

I still cannot get enough of this lot. I did not think I would come across such an influential band again, someone up there for me with Frank Zappa, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Pink Floyd, Rush, Yes, Messrs Harper, Jethro Tull and ooh a few more! But there is no bad here. Enjoy.

I managed to put some time aside this week to do one of my favourite things, sky watch! There was lots going on; the buzzards made a brief, but unfortunately distant appearance, and the clouds rolled, threatened and then passed on by. These clouds literally beamed at me as I looked up! Happy Sky Watch Friday All! The weekend starts here. Join Sky Watch Friday and see other participants here.

CD CV Taggees!

CD CV

I listen to Radio 2 a lot. Every day during driving hours and occasionally on line. When the regular DJ’s go on holiday another Radio 2 DJ usually stands in. The stand in for Steve Wright of late has been Mark Radcliffe supported by Liza Tarbuck. A fair substitute I think! Anyway, instead of the regular feature of a listeners choice of ‘golden oldies’ for half an hour, Mark does the CD CV. The listener emails in their answers to the following music questions leading to a selection of 9 tracks to play. I have been thinking about my own CD CV recently and then thought it would be good to find out what the blogging community would choose too! So with full copyright to Mark Radcliffe at Radio 2 , excepting question 10, have a go at the following and pass it on! (My answers are in italics.) What was… 1. The first record you ever bought? Gary Newman, Warriors 2. The song that led to your first pop star crush? Depeche Mode, See You (Dave Gahan) 3. The song that reminds you of your first true

Simple Minds Alive and Kicking.

Song of the day. Someone asked Steve Wright to play this on the golden oldies on Radio 2 today, it's one of my favourites. Enjoy!

Seeing Red

Someone made me angry this afternoon. I am usually a consistently cheery soul and although I have a fiery temper I am not quick to it. However, today someone called me a liar and it made me angry. I shook with anger which has not happened for....well I am not sure if it's ever happened before but if it has it was a long time ago. Anyway, my temper follows the same pattern each time, sudden violent anger, kind of an explosion within that almost puffs your cheeks out and gives rise to a reddening of the face, (like I said it really doesn't happen very often!) which lasts for approximately 15 seconds and then turns to tears! Very useful! I have thankfully now gravitated through the situation, and out the other side, back into normal me! The final part of my self 'anger control therapy' was the creation of this picture, a photograph evolved slightly. Good Evening All!
