Sky Watch Friday - Descent

I usually only post one Sky Watch Friday image but am posting two this week. The first I love despite the burn from the sun in the image as it reminds me of that fabulous view and how long I sat there staring at it last weekend, and it is unedited. The second one is slightly edited but I love it just the same as it appears to me that the parachutist is descending over the ocean and I really like the effect.


Sky watching and how we interpret what we see is so personal; maybe we only see what we want to see, and I always want to see the ocean, combine it with a beautiful sky and thats pretty much my favourite view.

I grabbed this shot one day on our camping trip. The buzzard was a regular visitor to the field and had just delighted me with a close fly over. He hovered over my head for ages and I allowed myself the pleasure of just watching before I decided it was worth a mad dash for my camera and a quick lens change. My big lens takes better shots from the tripod as the small movements of my hand and breathing make for blurred images but I was pleased to be able to get this anyway. I found out yesterday that Joni over at My Piece of Heaven has closed her blog. She runs a farm with her husband and also works as a medical transcriber. Apparently Joni is increasing her hours at work and she has decided that with the extra work and the farm to run she won't be able to fit blogging in, at least not to the standard that she wishes to. I completely understand but I am sad that I won't be able to visit her blog anymore. Joni posted everyday and displayed amazing photos of the beautiful and varied wildlife in her part of the world, including her new puppy Cooper! I am really happy that things are going well for Joni but I am sorry that I did not get a chance to tell her how much I valued her and her blog before she went. It's a funny thing this virtual socialising, connections are made between people.
