Holiday - North Wales August 2009

Image
I have been a little reluctant to return to all of the normal routines since we returned from holiday. We had such a relaxing time, in fact it has been voted our best holiday ever! As a result it has taken me a while to get some pictures up on the blog but finally here they are! (Picture 1 - base camp with fire pit!) We stayed in the one place while away which is new for us, we were lucky enough to be able to stay on a friends land just outside of Caernarfon with mountain views, 25 acres to ourselves and the use of a farm house for washing ourselves and drying clothes. The dogs, needless to say, were in heaven and spent all day, when we were not off on a yomp, playing with their toys in the fields and exploring. This shot was taken at the summit of Moel Shiobod (872m). We were in the cloud and the wind kept blowing the camera over for the self timer shot. We did evenutally get one but you can't really make us out too well though the cloud! It was a testing day for leg muscles and w...

Vacation

Well, I'm back! We have just returned from two weeks camping in Wales which was just wonderful. We are still officially on holiday until tomorrow and are therefore trying to carry on the routine of no TV, plenty of fresh air, long walks and lots of reading, however I felt the need for a quick blog! For now I have mail to open, dog beds to wash, emails to read, lawns to cut, weeding to do, unpacking to complete........ok that's it! Back to the walks and reading for a few more hours. More to follow!

We have had some very impressive clouds about over the past few weeks. There has been lots of rain in 'storm form'! I have seen a lot of it from the view point of my truck but not had an opportunity to get too many snaps. This was a lunchtime walk with the pups. We walked over fields and into a valley overlooking broadleaf woodland and watched the darkest clouds roll in. The walk back to the truck was a little wet but they don't mind and neither do I. I have my waterproof, they have their thick coats and 'devil may care' attitude to the outdoors. Every walk is to be enjoyed to the full with total exploration of the landscape, come rain or shine, puddles or mud, or sheep poo. I am planning a good field walk for this evening. There is a lovely set of fields nearby with wide grass rides around the outside so you can pick different routes. Buddy runs until he drops. I tried to get him to rest on the way back last time but he couldn't sit still. Roxy sprints for the ...

I watched this storm coming in on a recent lunchtime dog walk, it reached us as we got back to the truck and the heavens opened, but before that we got in a good walk and a swim...well the pups did, I refrained! To join Sky Watch or see other participants click here

I have been using the search engine Bing , the new version of Windows Live Search. It is pretty good, although I sometimes use Google still, however the thing I like best is the amazing pictures they have on their home page daily. Check this out! Obviously I am taking no credit for this image but wanted to share it.

Dagnammit!

I am developing a website with the intent of selling some of my photographs and art projects and to that end have bought a web domain and begun building the website myself. There are so many good services and offers now that I think you can do a reasonably good job on your own and editing this blog has taught me a few things about codes and shortcuts. The website has been a learning curve though; for a start getting to know the web designer software that comes with my package, I do not know if they all use the same terms but the terms within this one were new to me. I have spent many hours so far trying to get it to look how I wanted, and be easy to read and accessible to all, and there have been some major cock ups along the way. I have a few times now changed an item or colour on the website by accident and cannot get it back how I had it. My most recent efforts are no exception and I have now managed to delete the links from my first page and cannot find anyway to get them back. The...

No Introduction Needed

Hard Times

I cannot find a really good live version of this song but it is so brilliant and very apt at the moment, it's also by one of my favourite bands. Have a listen if you have a minute and if you are interested check out the live version beneath, not excellent quality but not bad and a good glimpse of Ian in his prime.
