Happy Birthday John Lennon

I have been visiting over with Scottish Nature Boy and have learned that it would have been John Lennons 70th birthday today. In tribute Scotty has posted the most amazing You Tube clip of a Ukulele tribute to the Beatles and John Lennon which I very strongly recommend you go and check out HERE.

The first thing that struck me as I listened to it was just how many amazing songs they/ he wrote, how can there be that many beautiful melodies and harmonies in the world? The second thing was just how simple but effective the songs are, when you see the chords being played. I am not saying they are easy songs to play or write, it is their very simplicity that is their genius.

So, do yourself a favour and pop over for a listen. It will be a few minutes very well spent.

I grabbed this shot one day on our camping trip. The buzzard was a regular visitor to the field and had just delighted me with a close fly over. He hovered over my head for ages and I allowed myself the pleasure of just watching before I decided it was worth a mad dash for my camera and a quick lens change. My big lens takes better shots from the tripod as the small movements of my hand and breathing make for blurred images but I was pleased to be able to get this anyway. I found out yesterday that Joni over at My Piece of Heaven has closed her blog. She runs a farm with her husband and also works as a medical transcriber. Apparently Joni is increasing her hours at work and she has decided that with the extra work and the farm to run she won't be able to fit blogging in, at least not to the standard that she wishes to. I completely understand but I am sad that I won't be able to visit her blog anymore. Joni posted everyday and displayed amazing photos of the beautiful and varied wildlife in her part of the world, including her new puppy Cooper! I am really happy that things are going well for Joni but I am sorry that I did not get a chance to tell her how much I valued her and her blog before she went. It's a funny thing this virtual socialising, connections are made between people.
