English Folk Verse (c.1870) - The Fifth of November Remember, remember! The fifth of November, The Gunpowder treason and plot; I know of no reason Why the Gunpowder treason Should ever be forgot! That's the only portion of this poem I have known up until now, however this year I came across the rest which I have to say I am not in complete agreeance with. Guy Fawkes and his companions Did the scheme contrive, To blow the King and Parliament All up alive. Threescore barrels, laid below, To prove old England's overthrow. But, by God's providence, him they catch, With a dark lantern, lighting a match! A stick and a stake...
I hope you don't get sick of me posting, but it's TRUE! Yellow roses are my very favorite, esp the Peace Rose which has a tinge of pink on the edges and smells heavenly!

Hey Kyle! How could I tire of a good friend? I think sometimes how much we would talk, laugh and sing if we sat together and had a cup of tea. You never know you may come to the UK one day and I may visit the States, who knows. For now though I am ever grateful for your visits, and cheered by your words.
ReplyDeleteThis is a fabulous sunny close up.
ReplyDeleteThanks Babooshka. Yellow roses are my favourite but all roses are such lovely flowers, they seem to unfurl forever.
